CREDIT DEFAUT SWAPS By Askia Salaam During President-Elect Barack Obama’s campaign, pondants and citizens in general constantly asked him what would he do to solve the financial crises currently gripping America and the world. Because of the nature of politics in this country, he was not able to give them a straightforward and truthful answer, which would have been “I don’t know yet”. Such an answer would have been political suicide but it would have been the truth. THE ROLE OF EDUCATION There cannot be a serious discussion of Islam and organization, leadership, management, rights, responsibilities, shuraa, democracy, etc. without a discussion on education. Knowledge is the fuel of the intellect, while education is its vehicle—a vehicle that becomes the driving force for social, economic, and political justice. There are many texts written on education in Islam; the purpose for its discussion here is to emphasize the importance of education to the group intellect and to the functional competency of a community. |

THE BIRTH OF JESUS IN THE QUR’AN Abstract: Muslims cannot compare or associate anything or anyone with G-d, yet we must maintain a high regard for Christ Jesus, son of Maryam. His birth was special, as was his life, his work, his message, his death, and (or, as will be) his resurrection. In this article, I will say with the Qur’anic revelations associated with Jesus The Christ and his birth. In the Qur’an, Allah tells Maryam that she will be blessed with a Word from Him, .I suggest that this Qur’anic reference and the Biblical reference to the Christ as Word may be an interfaith bridge to understanding. |

THE TRUE SABEEL OF ALLAH

I have entitled today’s lecture, “The True Sabeel of Allah”. We hear the term, “fee- sabeelillaah” very often by Muslims who carry out certain acts seeking the sole pleasure of Allah. They seek to do these things without having self-aggrandizement as the motive. They do not even have to be told “thank you” when the task is completed. They are doing those things fee-sabeelillaah or, in the path of Allah. However, what that “path” actually entails needs to be more clearly defined for us as Muslims and as Believers. |

This meeting hailed the beginning of a mass movement for the repair and resurrection of African American people and the African continent to a state of strength, which will then enable our people to be a force in the world for the betterment of mankind. |

This was the plea of those who remained steadfast in the face of adversity and sought pardon for not being attentive in their matters of concern.
