Chess Mastery of the Muslim World ?
(Part 3)

By Mubaashir Uqdah
In parts 1 and 2 of this article, we discussed the game of chess and the meaning of the chess pieces in the context of Muslim world politics. Parts 3 and 4 of this article will discuss some of the primary principles and tactics of chess strategy. However, although we could continue discussing these chess dynamics in relation to world politics, we are going change the focus and discuss these ideas in the context of the leadership of Imam W. Deen Mohammed and the community that supports his vision and mission.
I feel that it is important to make the point that when we speak of supporting the leadership of Imam Mohammed, we do not mean exclusively the flesh and blood body of the man, but rather the body of knowledge that Allah has sent to us through that man. This body of knowledge includes a special covenant and role for us to play in Allah’s plan and we should see ourselves as supporting that body of knowledge, which we believe is the key to the success and redemption of the future of African American people.
Many are woefully mistaken about our love for Imam Mohammed, because they think that all of the praise, accolades, exaltation and exultation that is expressed is because of some form of personality worship, is because of some economic, political or “worldly” achievement, is because he brought us to Islam as understood by the mainstream Muslim world. While this is probably true about some of us, and others may not be able to articulate what they know intuitively, many of us who have studied his teaching will tell you that it is because his interpretation of scripture, his ability to read the creation, and his personal example has produced a new, free, independent, natural, enlightened human mind inside of the ex-slave that when married to the dynamic, original African American soul will change this society and impact the world when it grows up, as long as we don’t abort it and the enemy doesn’t murder it through cruci-fiction (spelled this way on purpose).
To those of you who know and those of you who believe, when Imam Mohammed the man sees conscious physical manifestations of the highest expression of this knowledge coming from us, he will smell the sweet aroma of paradise. But you must remember that the human being does not know by instinct, he knows by learning. If we do not organize, systematize, and institutionalize this body of knowledge, the new mind (filled with understanding of his language) that some of us enjoy will not be automatically transferred and internalized by new converts or the next generation.
It is not the responsibility of the next generation to preserve and organize this body of knowledge for the future. It is the responsibility of the students who were fashioned and produced by him. We must not pass a burden to the next generation; we must pass an inheritance to the next generation!
Chess masters are known for their foresight and their ability to concentrate. In order to think ten moves ahead, they must have the ability to simultaneously concentrate their focus and expand their vision of the entire board. Superior logic is certainly required for foresight (seeing further ahead than the opponent), but perhaps even more important is the ability to see and feel the subtle, but powerful constellatory arrangement and juxtaposition of the forces on the battlefield at any given point in time (insight).
Imam Mohammed is a Grand Master and what we must realize are the dimensions of his strategic thinking. The recreational game of chess is two-dimensional. It is one opponent against another on a single game board. Real world chess strategy is multi-dimensional. Leaders mobilize their pieces to play many games at once on many boards (fields or environments). For example, Imam Mohammed has been playing against the white supremacist, the black racist and Chicken George (from the movie: Roots), Christian and Muslim orthodoxy, the people of Jahiliyyah, the strategies of the corrupt planners of the New World Order, and Shaitan and his chess-masterful strategies against human nature.
We may wonder why he has made certain moves. We may not understand why he has made certain moves. We may even disagree with certain moves he has made. But, it is our job to understand why he has made those moves. We must understand the many different opponents he is opposing and become astute enough to recognize which moves combat which opponents.
A serious student of the game of chess, studies the games of the masters. The average chess player does not understand why the masters make the moves they do. Sometimes, it doesn’t even look like the battle has begun. What is not realized is that there is a battle for positioning going on, because if your opponent can maneuver you into the wrong position, you are just about defeated before the visible battle has even started.
Many of us do not think there is a battle going on? We think everything is cool, Imam Mohammed has the wisdom and we have a special covenant with Allah, so success is automatic. Therefore, we engage in this work haphazardly, casually, without a sense of urgency, concern, and yes worry. Many believe that if we do not take care of the business, Allah is going to bless the next generation to do it.
What have we been reading? In how many places in the Qur'an does Allah show us how He sent His messengers to a people and they failed to heed the guidance and warnings of those messengers. What happened to those people? Did Allah automatically just pass the blessing to the next generation or were those people destroyed? Do you not see the danger our people are in?
We received the Imam’s commentary directly for over 30 years and have yet to produce a real expression of its height, but somehow our children, who are not receiving it directly (because our Imams, Masjids, and Clara Muhammad schools neglect to set up classes to teach the Imam’s commentary) are supposed to miraculously understand and implement the teachings. Masha Allah, right?
The game of chess is divided into three major parts: 1) the Opening game, 2) the Middle game, and 3) the End-game. The Opening Game is characterized by the use of specified scripts (opening moves) which are designed to aid the player in gaining important advantages. The Middle Game is characterized by the use of tactics to gain even more advantages and to translate those advantages into a good situation for victory. The End Game applies those advantages acquired in the Opening and Middle Games, which are then used to successfully checkmate the opponent and achieve victory.
Imam Mohammed’s Opening Game was characterized by several scripts that were designed to give his community some very important advantages in our battles against our enemy, Shaitan and his forces. You see, Shaitan has his Queen, Rooks, Bishops, Knights, and Pawns that he uses to thwart G-d’s plan. He knows that he cannot defeat G-d, but he believes he can defeat any human challenge to his rule, including the original man (the true human being, not the black man).
One of Imam Mohammed’s opening moves was his transformation of the Nation of Islam from an organization that preached confrontational race consciousness into one that promoted human identity in its excellence and the oneness of humanity. This move snatched us from the clutches of the white racist and removed the crown of thorns (black inferiority complex and grafted artificial mentality) from our head. This move crippled Shaitan’s strategy of divide and conquer.
Another opening move was to evolve the Nation of Islam’s theology from its infancy into its higher form, which was compatible with the theology of Muslims around the world and more importantly in accord with the guidance in the Holy Qur'an. Yet, this evolved understanding is not the same as orthodox Islam and has not forsaken the Nation of Islam’s mission to bring about the rise of African American people. It contains everything we need to fulfill G-d’s covenant with us. This masterful opening move strengthened our positioning and opened the entire Muslim world to us. By establishing us on the solid foundation of Al-Islam, Shaitan lost even more ability to shake and topple the mind that has been fashioned to challenge and defeat him.
Yet another insightful opening move was Imam Mohammed’s positioning us into the mainstream of American society. He picked up the flag, participated in New World Patriotism Day, and opened up the United States Senate with the Muslim prayer. His courageous gambit, though disappointing to some, secured us safety and acceptance in America and gave us time to strengthen Al-Islam’s roots in American soil relatively free from excessive CIA interference and plots. We felt at home and even blessed in America and we embraced our ownership of America and no longer felt like this was the white man’s country. Our psychology was liberated.
Another shining move was the embrace of interfaith dialog and a softening of the conflict and competition with Christian society. This move improved relations with the majority of African Americans who are Christian and enabled us to improve our relationships with our non-Muslim family members. This move had made the entire Christian society, particularly the African American Churches, potential allies in the effort to overcome the schemes of Shaitan and his forces. For we are a small force, just like he is and we need allies, just like he does.
This brilliant opening repertoire gained us a strong position in the Center. Knowledgeable chess players know that the single most important goal of the Opening Game is to gain a good position in the Center of the board. Being in the center gives your pieces maximum mobility and you can operate in any direction. Consider Imam Mohammed’s luminescence: he placed his community in the Center of the human family, the Islamic world, the American society, and the African American community. At the end of the Opening game in Imam Mohammed’s leadership we were in an excellent position and had maximum mobility and potential.
After the Opening Game is played, the chess match evolves into the Middle Game. The Middle Game is characterized by strategy and tactics used to gain or increase one’s advantages. What advantages are we talking about? In chess, there are 4 primary advantages: 1) a strong position in the Center of the board, 2) a Time advantage, 3) a Space advantage, and 4) a Material advantage. What happened to us during the Middle Game?
