THE TRUE SABEEL OF ALLAH

transcribed from a course entitled:

The Sacred & Secret Language of Religion and Culture

taught by: Imam Benjamin Bilal

I have entitled today’s lecture, “The True Sabeel of Allah”. We hear the term, “fee- sabeelillaah” very often by Muslims who carry out certain acts seeking the sole pleasure of Allah. They seek to do these things without having self-aggrandizement as the motive. They do not even have to be told “thank you” when the task is completed. They are doing those things fee-sabeelillaah or, in the path of Allah. However, what that “path” actually entails needs to be more clearly defined for us as Muslims and as Believers.

The Language that constructs Al-Insaan is The Language of Al-Qur'an

Doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc. are constructions of language.  Take away their vocabulary and they are no longer the named professional.  Take them before they acquired the language and you don't have the named professional.

Al-Insaan is not the human body. Al-Insaan is a specific form and state of human life inside the body.

The Grammatical Logic of the Original Arabic Leads to the

Universal Logic

By Imam Faheem Shuaibe

The eloquence and poetry of the Arab was legendary before the Quranic revelation.  Some scholars say that those people were actually called Arab because the term alludes to the beauty of their language.

Evenso, before the Qur'an, the Arabs themselves hadn't codified the grammar of their own native tongue.  This is because, prior to the revelation of the Qur'an the Arab intellect hadn't risen to the level of grammar.  To better understand what that means we need to revisit a portion of Imam Mohammed's 1997 quote.  The Imam spoke of how language and civilization evolves in man.   He said, man "Comes up with communication for him and his people in his family or in his environment, a common language."  He further stated that, "Just nature itself (not the brain so much) but nature itself played a great role in bringing people to form some kind of language for communicating between one another.  And then the intellect took over.  (When) the intelligence took over then they started to refine that language" and ultimately that  brought those people into "a logic for their language that is called it's grammar."
